Goalball is a sport created for people with visual impairment. Here, two teams of three players each face off. Competitors must throw the ball towards the opponent’s goal while their opponents must try to stop it with their whole extended bodies.
SPORT CLASS
This Paralympic and Parapan American sport is practiced only by people with visual impairment under the following categories:
B1: low visual acuity or complete loss of vision, aside from low or no perception of light.
B2: higher visual acuity compared to athletes who compete under the B1 class or visual field lower than 5 degrees in diameter.
B3: clearer visual acuity than B2 athletes or visual field lower than 20 degrees in diameter.
