Thanks to the work carried out in different districts of Santiago and regions, the Santiago 2023 Volunteer Program managed to reach 10,165 volunteers. For the development of the competitions, Santiago 2023 needs to recruit more than 17,000 people, who will contribute in different functional areas, making it possible to enjoy the most important sports festival in the country.
With presence in different fairs, community events, spring festivals and the support of the entire community, the Santiago 2023 corporation managed to add more than 10,000 volunteers, who are already prepared and trained for the biggest sports festival in America.
The head of Workforce, Carola Acevedo, was pleased with this achievement: "We are happy as a team to have achieved this milestone. This fills us with energy to continue working and manage to build the team of 17,000 people who will collaborate in carrying out this great event," she said.
For his part, Cristopher Caliqueo, volunteer number 10,000 at the Games commented: “I had seen the program in August for its launch (on Saturday the 20th). I was thinking about it until I saw a suggestion on Instagram a few days ago.”
Cristopher is motivated to participate by his caring heart, a helping attitude that he developed in his pastoral school. "I have been a boyscout and I have participated in community actions, such as delivering food to the most needy who sleep on the street," commented Caliqueo. For the date of the Games, he hopes to be in the central zone of the country, specifically studying Law in Valparaiso. "I like volleyball, soccer and especially cycling, because I practice it. I am proud to have the option to collaborate with these great Games."
Being a volunteer implies solidarity, sharing with others and having the capacity to give. It is being passionate about sport. Volunteers carry out their work with passion and commitment for the Games that are taking place for the first time in Chile. When they carry out their duties, they do their best and are professional in their work. They will learn a lot and experience the Santiago 2023 Games.
HOW CAN I BE A VOLUNTEER?
To volunteer for this great sporting event, you need to be at least 18 years old, as of October 1, 2023. You also need motivation and interest to participate in the Games in different roles, and share the values of the corporation. An attitude of solidarity, generosity and commitment is also valued to become a representative of the Games.
