It’s for that reason that we want to talk about cerebral palsy that is described as “(...) a group of permanent disorders of the development of movement and posture causing activity limitation, that are attributed to non-progressive disturbances that occurred in the developing fetal or infant brain (...)” (Rosembaum, Paneth, Levinton, Goldstein and Bax, 2007, p. 9).

Even when motor disorders may be followed by sensory, cognitive, communication or behavioral disorders, it doesn’t mean that they have a cognitive or sensory deficit. When the motor control of the face is affected, there could be cases in which people have difficulties pronouncing words. In very severe cases, where brain damage affects various zones, people can have other kinds of disabilities associated; in those cases we talk about multiple disability (e.g., cerebral palsy and cognitive deficit).
