Santiago 2023 brought sports and entertainment to Playa Las Torpederas

During the last weekend various activities were carried out at the seaside, with the active participation of tourists and neighbors from Valparaíso; all of this because the region will host diverse competitions during the Pan American and Parapan American Games.

Sports, games, music and more were all what neighbors and tourists could find in Playa Las Torpederas during last weekend, since Santiago 2023 Corporation organized an entertaining activity in this place to start up the engines for the Pan American and Parapan American Games next October.

The instance was carried out during Saturday and Sunday, February 11th and 12th and consisted of face painting, inflatable games for kids, also sporting spaces such as volleyball and paddleball, with the objective of giving importance to the social role of sports and to promote what will be the largest multisport event organized by Chile in its history.

Besides, both days also featured the participation of the Afro-descendant music group Tumberos del Puerto and the folk singer Carmen Lienqueo, who created a beautiful atmosphere for this event. Another important milestone in the countdown to Santiago 2023. Lienqueo was happy to be part of the show declaring that “music and sport are clearly related because both come from the same passion to want to be a better human being, a personal challenge".

The space also included a volunteering stand that was used by attendants to sign up and guarantee the possibility of being part of this important event.

The Valparaíso Region and several of its districts will host competitions during the Games, among them:

  • Female Football at the Estadio Elías Figueroa, Valparaíso.

  • Male Football at the Estadio Sausalito, Viña del Mar.

  • Triatlhon at the Playa El Sol Beach, Viña del Mar.

  • Canoe Slalom at the Río Aconcagua, Los Andes.

  • Equestrian Sports at the Regimiento Granaderos, Quillota.

  • Sailing at the Cofradía Náutica del Pacífico, Algarrobo.

This activity is part of the summer activities that Santiago 2023 is organizing to inform the population about the multisport event. This way, the milestone will be repeated next Saturday and Sunday, February 18th and 19th at the Playa Grande in Pichilemu, while Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th it’ll take place on the beaches of Algarrobo.
