During the past February 12th was carried out the nineteenth version of the traditional race: Valparaíso Cerro Abajo, the most important downhill urban competition of Latin America.
The event was attended by 30 outstanding mountain bike exponents, both nationals and internationals, who tested their abilities on the bike in a high risk circuit through the hills of the ‘Ciudad Puerto’.
Finally, the Czech rider Tomas Slavik was the one winning the first place after completing the course in 2:16,815 minutes, recovering after a fall during his training sessions, which caused him trouble in one of his ankles. The podium was completed by the Colombian borned in Medellin, Juanfer Vélez (02:18,300) and the Brazilian Lucas Borba (02:18,387).

On the other side, the Chilean rider Pedro Ferreira, twice champion, was unable to finish the race after falling during the previous practice, injuring his right hand, which stopped him from continuing in the competition.
The Valparaíso Cerro Abajo version of this year also included a stand of our Volunteer Program, space dedicated to promoting the Pan American and Parapan American Games Santiago 2023 and where people interested in participating in the most important mega-event of the Americas, and in the Chilean history, had the chance to sign up to be part of this event.
Mountain Biking will be part of the Pan American Games, space in which will participate various of the competitors that were part of the Valparaíso Cerro Abajo event. The competition will be carried out on Saturday, October 21th.
