Chile is celebrating in Pucón: Bárbara Riveros won again and Martín Ulloa came second at the Ironman 70.3

The "Chica" took back the title and added her sixth triumph in the Araucanía, followed by the Argentinian Biagioli and Higgins from the United States. The male title was for the Spanish Antonio Benito.

The world level triathlon season started high with the 36th edition of the Ironman 70.3 -because of the amount of miles, equivalent to 113 km- that took place in Pucón, Araucanía region.

And the candidates reacted to its reputation as 'the prettiest race in the world.' On the male category, the Spanish Antonio Benito López, who debuted on the competition, won with a time of 3 hours, 55 minutes and 11 seconds, keeping the crown for his country since last year his compatriot, Javier Gez Noya, won. Behind came the Hispanics, the national athlete Martín Ulloa and Marc Dubrick from the United States.

THE "CHICA" RIVEROS TOOK BACK THE CROWN AND ACHIEVED AN "HEXA"

For females, the Chilean Bárbata Riveros took back the title that she lost last year in the hands of the Brazilian Luisa Baptista, and got her sixth joy on the south with a time of 04:31:35, being added to the "Penta" achieved between 2015 and 2019. This way, she reached the Canadian Lisa Bentley, winner from 2002 to 2007, as the most recognized of Pucón.

At the end of the race, Riveros said "i had doubts about coming, but I was able to win and I'm grateful for the support. I owe a lot to Pucón and it's people. I ran here for the first time in 1994 and, even though I'm fr Santiago, I grew here."

The winner has as an objective for 2023 to participate on the Ironman of Hawaii, a maximum competition of the category and that this time will take place next October.

With these results, there are some athletes that got their ticket for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship, a race that will take place in the city of Lahti, Finland, between August 26th and 27th. At the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, the triathlon competition, with an Olympic distance, will have as venue Viña del Mar on November 2nd and 4th.
