At the foot of the Santuario Inmaculada Concepcion, inside the Parque Metropolitano de Santiago, the countdown clocks for the next Pan American and Parapan American Games were installed.
Premiered at the Palacio de La Moneda one year ahead Santiago 2023, they are now available to show the national and foreign public the days, hours, minutes and seconds remaining for the most important multi-sports event in the Americas.
"As the Games get closer, we have more and more presence in different everyday places in Santiago and. In this context, we took a relevant symbol such as clocks to the largest urban park in Latin America, getting closer to national visitors and tourists," said Gianna Cunazza, executive director of Santiago 2023.
The Parque Metropolitano de Santiago will also host mountain biking at the Pan American Games, receiving the best riders from the continent, including the national Martin Vidaurre, bronze medalist at Lima 2019 and 16th at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
HOW TO GET THERE?
The access to the San Cristobal hill can be from Pío Nono street, just 800 meters from the Baquedano Metro station, and taking the traditional funicular to the top. The clocks will remain installed until the end of the Games in November 2023, becoming another attraction in a park that already has the National Zoo, the Tupahue and Antilén pools, numerous viewpoints, trails and gardens, as well as the modern cable car with privileged views of the capital.
