Santiago 2023 celebrates the International Volunteer Day

Every December 5th, the labor of these important collaborators is commemorated around the world and the #Santiago2023 Pan American and Parapan American Games are expected to have the contribution of 17,000 volunteers.

Santiago 2023 Corporation celebrates the International Volunteer Day, established in 1985 by the General Assembly of the United Nations, a highly significant date for the organization that will have 17,000 people supporting the event.

Almost four months after its launch, the Volunteer Program has been spread to Santiago’s different districts and regions. In the last recruitment report, 12,377 volunteers were registered, making steady progress towards the established goal.

“We are working so that everyone who wants to be a volunteer can contribute, regardless of gender, age, occupation, or nationality; we want it to be a meeting point, as our motto says,” stated Carola Acevedo, head of this area in the corporation.

The program which started on August 20th is still in its enrollment stage and the selection will start next January. Then, each participant will be trained and assigned a role, it is expected that at least 1% of the people registered are people with impairments.

This December 11th, we will celebrate all our volunteers with a walk, functional training, self-defense training, dancing, and more.

If you are registered in the #Santiago2023 Volunteer Program, you probably already received the invitation. If not, we invite you to sign up and celebrate this amazing day with us.
