Saturday, November 25th, 2023.- The Parapan American champion in the F57 category javelin throw (competing seated), Brazilian athlete Cicero Lins shone in Santiago 2023, clinching the event once again with a throw of 49.87 meters, surpassing the record he himself set at Lima 2019 (44.65 meters).
On his third attempt, the Para athlete, world champion in 2019, achieved the distance that crowned him as the Parapan American champion for the second time, adding to his bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games.
"It's a very important victory. I keep achieving successes, and I want to continue winning medals in major competitions. I once thought I would never be able to do sports, and now I'm here achieving great things for Brazil," commented Lins, who before Para athletics was dedicated to swimming.
Luis Gómez Tagle from Mexico secured the silver medal with a throw of 43.65 meters, while Gerdan Fonseca from Cuba finished third, claiming the bronze with a throw of 43.33 meters.
