Wednesday, November 22nd, 2023.- The Estadio Bicentenario in La Florida was the perfect setting for Brazil to defeat Chile 4-0 in CP Football at the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games, extending their unbeaten streak.
In the first half, Chile presented a very organized approach against a Brazil team that, while leaving several of its key players on the bench, always demonstrated superiority and total ball control. The yellow and green team's shots kept coming, and quickly the national goalkeeper, Jairo González, emerged as the standout player of the match.
The local team held firm until, at the 15th minute, a defensive lapse allowed César Batista to open the scoring. Despite the setback, Chile did not lose its organization and even had a chance to equalize after Patricio Saavedra failed to connect with a shot from Alexis Pavez.
As the first half was ending, at 28', Leonardo Morais surprised the Chilean goalkeeper with a long-range shot that found the net.
In the second half, the host team spent three minutes in Brazil's area, seeking a chance to reduce the deficit. After a corner kick, a counterattack by the 2nd-ranked IFCPF team once again allowed Leonardo Morais to increase the lead.
Various changes on both teams brought physical freshness. Brazil took advantage of this to create more opportunities and allow goalkeeper Jairo González to shine repeatedly. When two minutes of added time were played, Lucas da Silva, taking advantage of a Chilean defensive mistake, sealed the final 4-0 score.
The Brazilians are the leaders with 12 points, after four victories, while Chile has three points, with three losses and one win. Brazil will face Venezuela on Thursday at 2:30 p.m, and Chile will clash with Argentina at 7:30 p.m.
