The two hockey courts top-level turf will be ready in October 2021. The construction of the Paralympic Sports Center and the National Stadium Arena, where the old velodrome used to be located, is also contemplated.
All these works will be connected by a network of pedestrian circulation and bicycle lanes, which will facilitate the movement of the public within the total 64 hectares of the project. A sustainable site, which also includes new vegetation and optimization of irrigation, whose award will be known in October.
The Minister of Sports Cecilia Pérez, was enormously satisfied with this first step towards the works: «The National Stadium Park is one of the emblems that we will have for the Pan American and Para Pan American Games Santiago 2023. The construction and improvement of venues goes hand in hand with the need for better infrastructure, which both our athletes and our citizens require. Chileans will be able to have this Park as part of their daily life, as they have open spaces for their use«.

The National Stadium venue is the center of Chilean sports history and one of the most important stages of the sporting event that will write another chapter in that history, the Pan ad Para Pan American Games Santiago 2023.
These works will offer a unique experience to the athletes of the Americas, since they have been studied and conceived jointly between MINDEP and the technical management of the Santiago 2023 Corporation and will remain as a legacy not only to high-performance sports, but also for the community that will have a Park to enjoy around sports activity.
