“Todos juntos”: Los Jaivas, the Chilean band, made the entire stadium sing in the opening ceremony

“The second anthem of Chile”, that’s what Juanita Parra -drummer of the legendary band- called the song they played in the opening ceremony of the Games, which was chanted by athletes and the crowd.

The show of the emblematic, folkloric, and psychedelic rock band Los Jaivas in the big opening of the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games made everyone happy. The universality of the group from Viña del Mar -that this year turned 60 years playing in different scenarios around the world- allows them to be easily recognized by people, even by athletes from foreign delegations that were delighted by the rhythm and chanted part of the lyrics.

Los Jaivas played one of their most representative songs that Juanita Parra, the drummer, referred to as “the second anthem of Chile.” The song “Todos juntos” (Spanish for “all together”) was just perfect for the Games...

“Why live so far apart, if the Earth wants to bring us together,” is what the lyrics say, and it perfectly reflects the spirit of the Pan American Games, precisely, “Our Meeting Point.”.
