Basketball, football, weightlifting, zumba, skating, light jogging… This is how any given morning is lived at the Elige Vivir Sano Center in the San Ramón district, located next to Avenida Américo Vespucio Sur, between Santa Rosa and Gran Avenida. The image is repeated almost identically for a few more kilometers to the west at the Elige Vivir Sano Center in Lo Espejo, a few blocks from the Central Highway.
Since their inauguration, both places have become an important contribution to these districts, given all the alternatives that are offered to practice sports and have a healthier life. The design is similar: a covered multi-pitch; tribunes; second floor exercise and activity rooms; a small skatepark outside, and even a football soccer field in the case of the San Ramón Center.
And now, in addition to practicing sports, the inhabitants of these districts will be able to be direct spectators of the high competition thanks to the announcement made by the Minister of Sports and President of Santiago 2023, Cecilia Pérez, during the launch of the Games Infrastructure Plan: the Elige Vivir Sano Centers in San Ramón and Lo Espejo will be venues for the Pan American and Para Pan American Games. They will adapt in a modular way to the Pan American and Para Pan American standards, both in capacity and in the playing surface.
Even more, the inhabitants of these districts will be able to attend the training sessions of the athletes from all over the continent who will arrive to Santiago for the 2023 Games.
But that’s not all.
Two other Elige Vivir Sano Centers will be built in Santiago, which will be venues for the Pan American and Para Pan American Games. The selected districts will be announced shortly.
In this way, Santiago 2023 will not only leave an important legacy in infrastructure after the Pan American and Para Pan American Games, it will also leave a social legacy thanks to the closeness that citizens will have with high-performance sports.
