PRESIDENT BORIC CONFIRMED HIS SUPPORT FOR SANTIAGO 2023 IN EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING OF PANAM SPORTS

THE NATIONAL DELEGATION, HEADED BY SPORTS MINISTER ALEXANDRA BENADO, PRESENTED THE STATE OF PROGRESS OF THE PAN AMERICAN GAMES IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC.

During the meeting of the Organizing Committee of the Santiago 2023 Pan American and Parapan American Games, the President of Chile, Gabriel Boric, participated via videoconference in the executive meeting of the Pan American Sports Organization, which took place on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 May in the city of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The Chilean delegation was led by the Minister of Sports, Alexandra Benado, who was accompanied by the President of the Chilean Olympic Committee, Miguel Angel Mujica, and the Executive Director of Santiago 2023, Gianna Cunazza. The Secretary of Sports highlighted the progress made in recent months before the Panam Sports board and the representatives of the 41 countries that make up this organization.

"We are aware that we are at the gates of the most important sports event in Chile, we are here to present the progress and assure you that we are working hard with the entire Santiago 2023 team," said the Minister.

She added that "we are moving forward with the infrastructure that was at a critical moment when our administration received the project, but we have been able to correct the course and we are advancing strongly so that next year everything goes well."

For the CEO of Santiago 2023, Gianna Cunazza, the feedback from the members of the continental entity is essential to continue advancing in the organization of the Games.

“I think it was a very forceful presentation, which was valued by the Executive Committee of Panam Sports. We showed not only the progress we have made, but also talked about those areas where we must advance faster. This is very beneficial for us and we value the experience that the Panam Sports team shares with us in these aspects”, she commented.

PRESIDENT OF PANAM SPORTS: "THE PAN AMERICAN VILLAGE IS VERY ADVANCED"

The leader of the Pan American Sports Organization, Neven Ilic, stated that "in many aspects, Santiago 2023 is advancing in good conditions, (and although) I think the organization should pay more attention to the issue of infrastructure, the Pan American Village is very advanced. Regarding the other venues, there are some that have already been delivered and others in progress".

"We still have time to get to the Games in good condition," he concluded.

The next Executive Committee will take place prior to the General Assembly to be held in Santiago in Chile on August 31 and September 1 this year.
