Sunday, November 19th, 2023.- In Group A of CP football at the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games, Brazil secured an 11-1 victory over Canada, affirming themselves as one of the leading candidates for the gold medal.
Three goals from Evandro de Oliveira (9', 24', and 30'), three from Matheus Cardoso (10', 20', and 39'), three from Lucas de Silva (25', 50', and 55'), in addition to goals by Ubirajara da Silva (28') and Thomasson Pereira (32'), structured the South American team's landslide victory, while Canada's consolation came from Samuel Charron at the 18th minute.
"Despite the scoreline, we felt it was a tough match. Fortunately, we were able to play our game, did everything right, and that helped us secure a resounding victory," commented Evandro de Oliveira, adding, "Every match will be difficult, but we want to aim for more."
In their debut, Brazil defeated Argentina 2-1 on Saturday, and on Monday, November 20, they will face the United States at 7:30 p.m. local time at the Estadio Bicentenario de La Florida.
CP football is a variation of 7-a-side football adapted for individuals with cerebral palsy. It follows FIFA's rules with some adaptations related to the minimum parity conditions that must exist between the two teams.
