Shooting Para Sport: U.S. Secures Gold Thanks to Marco de la Rosa

American Para athlete Marco de la Rosa emerged victorious in the Parapan American P1-10m Air Pistol SH1 Male competition.

Sunday, November 19th, 2023.- On Sunday, American Para athlete Marco de la Rosa claimed the gold medal in the P1-10m Air Pistol SH1 Male category of Shooting Para Sport.

At the Poligono de Tiro at Pudahuel, the winner scored 227.6 after nine rounds, securing the top spot at Santiago 2023.

The silver medal went to Cuban athlete Ángelo di Loriga with a score of 226.7, while the bronze medal was awarded to another American, Yanxiao Gong, who scored 204.7.

Overall, it has been a successful year for the American, considering that two months ago, at the Lima 2023 World Championship, he won a bronze medal in the team competition alongside Gong and Michael Tagliapietra.

"I haven't really been focusing on the medals but on the shots and the process. Sometimes I would falter, and that's because I didn't remember the process. But by doing so, I returned to what was expected, although I got nervous watching the Cuban climb up. The competition was tough, and now, after winning the gold, I want to relax," stated Marco de la Rosa, who earned the silver medal in P3-25m Air Pistol SH1 Mixed on Saturday.
