Saturday, November 18th, 2023.- Luis Flores, a silver medalist at Lima 2019, secured the first-place position in the Para Table Tennis Male's Class 2, with still one match to go in the final phase.
This is because in his group, there are five competitors, and with two matches remaining, his three-victory lead is insurmountable.
The Chilean athlete had defeated Canadian Peter Ishergood 3-0, Brazilian Guilherme Marciao 3-0, and also Brazilian Iranildo Espindola 3-0.
This result increases his personal medal count to three, as at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games, Flores had won a silver medal in the individual competition in Class 2 and silver in the team event in Class 1-2 alongside Vicente Leiva.
With this, Chile added gold for Luis Flores and three bronze medals, all in Para table tennis: Armin Rosas in Class 11, Cristian Dettoni in Class 6, and Matías Pino in Class 6.
It is worth noting that this sport provides direct qualification spots for Paris 2024.
