Speed Skating: Colombia Takes Gold in Male's 500 Meters

Andrés Jiménez won the gold medal in a race with a disqualification due to pushing. However, the race was not stopped.

Sunday, November 5th, 2023.- Similar to what happened in the final of the female's 500-meter speed skating, where a skater was disqualified, the male's race over the same distance with four competitors also saw a disqualification.

In this case, it was the Brazilian skater Abel Rocha who pushed the Chilean skater Emanuelle Silva. But unlike the female race, the race was not halted and continued.

As a result, the gold medal went to Colombian Andrés Jiménez, who finished at 0:43.104 at the Patinódromo at the Estadio Nacional on the last day of the Pan American Games.

The silver medal went to Mexican Carlos Monsivais, with a time of 0:44.108.

The bronze medal was earned by the local skater Emanuelle Silva with a time of 1:01.789.
