Gold and Silver for Colombia in the Male's 1000-Meter Sprint

Colombians Juan Mantilla and Andrés Jiménez secured the top two spots for their country, while the bronze went to Chilean Hugo Ramírez.

Saturday 4th November 2023.- Colombia dominated the Male's 1000-Meter Sprint, claiming both the gold and silver medals, with the bronze going to Chile.

In an exciting race, Juan Mantilla clocked a time of 1:23.931 to clinch the victory. The silver medal went to his fellow countryman Andrés Jiménez, who finished with a time of 1:24.151.

Chile's Hugo Ramírez earned the bronze with a time of 1:24.252, adding another medal to Team Chile's tally.

"I'm happy, I prepared a lot for this race. I'm a bit disappointed because I wanted the gold. I took a risk with a harder wheel, and it wasn't the best decision, but I managed to secure a bronze," said Ramírez after the race.

"Tomorrow is the race I've been running all my life, and it's where I've performed the best. I'm going all out for tomorrow," he added, referring to the 1000-meter race scheduled for this Sunday.
