Saturday 4th November 2023.- Colombian athlete Gabriela Rueda brought another gold medal to her country by winning the 1000-meter female's sprint in speed skating.

Rueda recorded a time of 1:28.381, while Ecuadorian skater Gabriela Vargas clocked 1:28.741 to earn the silver. The bronze went to the Venezuelan Angy Quintero, with a time of 1:28.794.

"I am very happy to win this Pan American gold for the first time in my career. Standing at the top of the podium makes me very happy," Rueda said after winning the gold medal.

"Skating is a sport that deserves a lot; there are people watching us from all over. We are happy with what we have achieved," she added.
