Female's Water Polo: The United States Once Again Retains the Gold Medal

For the sixth consecutive Pan American Games, the Americans defeated Canada in the final, this time with a score of 20-11. In the match for third place, Brazil defeated Argentina 10-9 and retained their bronze medal.

Saturday 4th November 2023.- The female's water polo competition at Santiago 2023 concluded with the usual result: the United States defeated Canada and, for the sixth consecutive Pan American Games, secured the gold medal. In all previous editions, their opponents in the final were also the Canadians, who once again took home the silver.

Obviously, this was the toughest match for the champions, who had won all previous matches by a large margin. The game was closely contested until the second quarter, with the United States holding a 10-7 lead. It wasn't until the third quarter that they were able to pull away with a clear 6-2 advantage, and in the final quarter, they secured the 20-11 victory.

In the battle for third place, Brazil also retained their bronze medal, although they had a tough time defeating Argentina 10-9. In fact, the Brazilian team was trailing 7-6 at the end of the third quarter, and it was only in the last period that they managed to turn the score in their favor.

In the lower positions, Mexico finished fifth by defeating Cuba 15-11, and Puerto Rico finished seventh by beating Chile 18-13.
