Thursday, November 2st.- In a day that was interrupted near the end due to rain, Paraguayan Sofía García and Canadian Etienne Papineau took the lead in the golf competition at Santiago 2023 for the female and male, respectively.

However, not all athletes managed to complete the first 18 holes at the Prince of Wales Country Club and will need to do so in the afternoon or on Friday morning before the start of the second round.

Canadian Papineau did finish and completed the course with 63 strokes, 9 under par. He is followed by the Colombian Sebastián Muñoz and the American Dylan Menante, both at -6. Menante, however, has yet to complete hole 18, as do Paraguayan Fabrizio Zanotti (-5 until the 17th hole) and Chilean Joaquín Niemann (-4 also until the 17th hole).

Other notable figures in the championship include Chilean Guillermo Pereira (fifth at -4 with a completed round) and Mexican Abraham Ancer (seventh at -3 on the 17th hole).

In the female's category, Sofía García is leading with -7 with one hole remaining. Behind her are Canadian Alena Sharp at -5 (with a completed round), Colombian players Valery Plata (-2 with a completed round) and María Uribe (-2 with two holes to finish), Alexandra Swayne from the Virgin Islands (-2 with a completed round), and Isabella Fierro from Mexico (-1 with a completed round).

Golf will continue on Friday with the second round of 18 holes, along with any remaining holes from Thursday that could not be completed in the afternoon.
