Squash: Chilean doubles team advances to the semifinals, secures a bronze medal

In female's doubles, Ana María Pinto and Giselle Delgado defeated the Mexicans Luz Domínguez and Diana Gasca, and they will now face the Americans Olivia Fiechter and Amanda Sobhy, who won gold and silver in singles, respectively.

Thursday, November 2nd, 2023.- After losing in all the individual matches at the debut, Chile achieved its first victory in Pan American squash today, which also allowed them to secure a medal. This is because in female's doubles, the pair of Giselle Delgado and Ana María Pinto reached the semifinals, and since there is no match for the third place, they will at least take home a bronze.

At the Centro de las Raquetas del Estadio Nacional, the Chileans narrowly defeated the Mexicans Luz Domínguez and Diana Gasca in a tight match, with scores of 11-9 and 11-9.

Now, in their quest for a spot in the final, they will face the Americans Olivia Fiechter and Amanda Sobhy, who won gold and silver in the singles, respectively.

The other Chilean pairs who played today in various categories were not as fortunate. In mixed doubles, Tabita Gaitán and Luis Quisquinay, from the Independent Athletes Team, defeated Agustín Carranza and Antonia Vera with scores of 11-10 and 11-8. In male's doubles, the Mexicans Leonel Cárdenas and César Salazar defeated José Tomás Gallegos and Matías Lacroix with scores of 11-7 and 11-6.
