Monday, October 30th, 2023.- The United States qualified to the semi-finals of female's field hockey after defeating Uruguay 3-0 in the final match of Group A at Santiago 2023.
With goals from Abigail Tamer, Meredith Sholder, and Ashley Sessa, the Americans secured their place in the final four.
The match was closely contested because the winner would qualify for the semifinals. It was the Americans who managed to capitalize on the opportunities they created on the field at the National Stadium's Field Hockey Center.
The United States finished second in their group, which was won by Argentina with nine points, while the North Americans earned six points.
With this loss, Uruguay will have to compete for places from fifth to eighth, while the United States awaits the winner of Group B, which could be Chile, as they conclude the group stage against Cuba this Monday.
