Monday, October 30th.- Historically, the United States has been a dominant force in water polo, and in the opening match of the female's competition at Santiago 2023, they demonstrated why. In a game they controlled from start to finish, the American team defeated Chile 35-0 at the Centro Acuático at the Estadio Nacional.
The opening goal was scored in less than 30 seconds of play. The home team couldn't prevent the Americans from scoring at will: the first quarter ended 12-0; by the end of the second, the score was 20-0; after the third, it was 28-0, and at the end of the match, the American team's superiority was evident in an impressive 35-0 scoreline.
With this result, the United States tops Group B alongside Brazil, which had previously defeated Puerto Rico 19-7.
On Tuesday, on the second day of competition, the United States will face Puerto Rico (9:30 a.m.), and Brazil will play against Chile (12:30 p.m.)
This Monday, in Group A, Cuba defeated Mexico 14-11, and Canada won 14-9 against Argentina. On Tuesday, the Cuban team will face the Canadians, and the Argentineans will play against the Mexican team.
