This Friday, the sport of boxing bids farewell to Santiago 2023 with the dispute of medals in all weight categories. In the first matches, there were notable bouts between Brazil and Colombia, resulting in a victory for each.

Friday, october 27nd, 2023.- This morning, the Pan American boxing finals began at the Centro de Entrenamiento Olímpico in Ñuñoa, awarding gold to Colombia, the United States, and Brazil in their first matches of the day.

The day kicked off with the female's 57-kilogram category, where the Colombian Yeni Arias defeated the Brazilian Tatiana de Jesús Chagas in a closely contested match, with a split decision (3-2).

In the male's 57-kilogram category, the American Jahmal Harvey secured a victory over the Cuban Saidel Horta Rodríguez del Rey by unanimous decision (5-0).

"I'm very happy; it was a tough fight against a strong opponent, but I had great confidence. I came here to win the gold, and I achieved it," said the American.

"It was a very even fight; I gave it my all, executed my tactical plan, and I believe it worked, but unfortunately, the referees didn't see it that way," lamented the Cuban.

In the third match of the day, in the female's 60-kilogram category, Brazil avenged their previous loss to Colombia with Beatriz Soares Ferreira's victory over Angie Paola Valdés by unanimous decision.
