Canada defeats Argentina at Parque Peñalolén, aims for the gold medal

The North American duo, composed of Melissa Humana and Brandie Wilkerson, won 2-0 and advanced to the final of the female beach volleyball.

Thursday, october 26, 2023.- Thanks to the 2-0 victory of Melissa Humana and Brandie Wilkerson over the Argentinians Ana María Gallay and Fernanda Pereyra, Canada secured its place in the female beach volleyball final, which will be held on October 27th at 6:00 p.m. local time at Centro de Vóleibol Playa de Peñalolén.

The Canadian dominance in the match was so evident and consistent that they won both sets with the same score, 21-15, against an Argentinian team that couldn't defend the silver medal they had won in Lima 2019 with the same Gallay/Pereyra pair.

Brandie Wilkerson was the standout player for the Canadians with 15 attack points, while her partner, Melissa Humana, contributed 6 points.

Melissa Humana Paredes will have a special final in Santiago 2023, as her mother is Chilean, and all her relatives on that side of the family will be supporting her at the sports complex located in Peñalolén, which is the venue for this discipline.

Canada awaits the opponent from the match between Brazil and the United States, which is played on the same day, while the loser will compete for the bronze against Argentina. All the matches will take place this Friday evening.
