Francisca Crovetto: “We4 have a delegation composed by mainly women, and that is a great honor”

Our national flag bearer for Tokyo 2020 spends her days prior to the Olympic Games getting ready in Europe, participating in several tournaments before arriving to the Olympic event.

How is your preparation for Tokyo going, with less than 15 days for the competition?

My preparation is intense, but I am enjoying it greatly. I have been in Italy for almost 3 weeks, I was in Croatia, shooting in the last World Cup of this year, the next week we will go through other regions in Italy, where we will be in Tuscany, for example, competing in the last competition before Tokyo.

Which do you think will be your greatest challenge in this event, considering how it is being developed?

My main challenge is to enjoy these third Olympic Games. I want to remove the thorn Rio 2016 left, in the sense that I didn’t really enjoy those Games in a good way. My intention is to revert that situation, have a good time, and do a good job, with my new coach and these are the first Games we’re competing together and I am sure we will achieve something beautiful. In Sports terms, to achieve a good qualification, go dish by dish and hopefully to be allowed to be in an Olympic final, which only the top 6 compete.

What is the importance you give to the strong women’s presence?

I think it’s a role model for the country, of the capacity sport has. I think sport is one of the tools that society has, which is a reflex of the different topics, issues, and demands that humanity has and one of these has been gender equality and to see that Chilean sport has been progressing so much in that sense and that today we have a delegation composed by mainly women, is a huge honor and we hope that women’s sports continue to progress.

How important do you think sport should be for our new Constitution?

For me, sports and physical activity, the physical alphabetization should be a constitutional right, and it should be by ensuring the Access to sport and physical activities with good programs and good people in charge, and adequate spaces so our boys, girls, teenagers and elderly can work on their personal growth through this.
