‘La Roja’ women’s team debuts with a win

Chile's female football team defeated Paraguay 1-0, getting off to a strong start in their participation in Santiago 2023.

Sunday, October 22nd.- The Chilean women's national football team made a winning debut by defeating their Paraguayan counterparts with a score of 1-0. This victory came in a match of the Pan American Games Santiago 2023, held at the Estadio Elías Figueroa in Valparaiso. 

La Roja's women's team secured the win through Daniela Zamora's goal in the 24th minute, a well-placed header. The team, under the guidance of coach Luis Mena, earned their first three points in the competition. 

Goalkeeper Christiane Endler expressed her satisfaction with the result, highlighting the team's performance. "It's important to start with a win. It was a tough match as we had never beaten Paraguay before. We're very happy. We played the way we wanted, controlled the game well, and I liked the team's performance. These three points were well-deserved," she said. 

Chile's next match is scheduled for Wednesday, the 25th, against Mexico at 8:00 p.m. local time. The game will take place at the Sausalito Stadium in Viña del Mar.
