Taylor Nye is First Champion in Pan American Skate Park History

American skater Taylor Nye secured the gold at Santiago 2023 after delivering a splendid routine at the Estadio Nacional. Local skater Martín Jaque narrowly missed the bronze.

Sunday, october 22nd, 2023.- One of the debut disciplines at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago is skateboarding, held at the Explanada de los Deportes Urbanos of the Estadio Nacional.

On Sunday, the skate park category, in which competitors have three attempts to perform their routine, each lasting 45 seconds, delivered the medals. The presentation with the highest score wins.

In the morning, in the women's category, 13-year-old Canadian Fay DeFazio Ebert took home the gold medal with 84.66 points obtained in the second round.

The silver went to Brazilian Raicca Ventura de Oliveira (82.54), and the bronze to American Bryce Ava Wettstein (79.95).

Next, it was the men's turn, and they performed in front of a packed audience. The support was overwhelming during the performance of Chilean skater Martín Jaque, who fought until the end for a medal. However, he had to settle for fourth place with a score of 76.64.

The first Pan American skate park champion was American skater Taylor Nye, who set the tone for the competition in his first routine, earning 86.68 points from the judges, enough to secure the gold in Santiago 2023.

The silver medal went to Brazilian Augusto Takahashi, who scored 84.12 in his second attempt. The bronze was awarded to Puerto Rican skater Steven Piñeiro, with 83.24.
