The mark allowed the Aztecs to win the gold medal and complete a perfect sweep, as they climbed to the top of the podium in the four competitions that have been held so far in this sport at the Pan American Games Santiago 2023.

The Mexican pair surpassed Nicaragua in the final table, which took the silver with 7,880 points obtained by the duo of Elian Ortega and Ingrid Darce.

"We are very happy, very excited. It was a super incredible competition, I think we enjoyed it so much that the competition went so fast and we still haven't realized what we just won. When we see that Mexico has such a good team of athletes and coaches, we expect the best results and I think we are achieving it. I have no doubt that we are all going to become great athletes with these results," commented euphoric Mexican William Arroyo after the victory.
