A successful wrap-up of the Coordination Commission Meeting (CoCom) was done between the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), Americas Paralympic Committee and the Santiago 2023 Corporation, the organizer of the seventh version of the next Parapan American Games.
The Head of Project from IPC, Jürgen Padberg, leader of the delegation that visited our country, was the person who gave importance to these five days of on-site meetings, where the Corporation presented the progress in all areas. “This week has been very useful and productive. 22 months have passed from the last time we had personal contact, and we have seen a large progress since then. It was really good to confirm it in person”, said the executive of the Paralympic entity.
Padberg added that “we’re here on the ground and we are able to, in the same room with our counterparts, discuss all the topics that must be carried out and achieved in the next two years. It was very useful”.
On the note, he detailed that “during the afternoons we have been able to visit some of the venues, some with construction works being done. Besides, it has been quite helpful to finally see it, on-site and not just see pictures and drawings”.
The Sports Minister and president of the Corporation, Cecilia Pérez, ensured that “we are still proving to the authorities and representatives of the International Paralympic Committee, and the Americas Paralympic Committee, that the commitment that we have with these Parapan American Games today is real, not just words, they are facts. We want to even the field”.
On his part, Sebastián Villavicencio, board member of Santiago 2023, detailed that “the corporation and the IPC and all the entities involved in the Games planning, they continue in permanent contact, performing the activities to execute great Games. 100{>These work days help to review the committed agreements and aid on the planning of everything we have ahead”.
