Friday, October 6, 2023.- Anahi Riveros and Joaquín Tapia, both representing Chile in the Pan American Games Santiago 2023, were the fastest in the qualification phase of the speed discipline at the National Championship of Sports Climbing, being held at the Parque Cerrillos.
With this competition, the brand-new climbing center is being inaugurated in the commune of Cerrillos in Santiago. The first event in competition is the speed discipline, which is being held entirely today, while bouldering and lead climbing disciplines will take place tomorrow and on Sunday.
Riveros climbed the 15 meter wall in a time of 9.22 seconds, securing first place in the semifinals. Alongside her, Fiona Forsterra qualified for the aforementioned round with a time of 17.55; Martina Morales with 25.32; and Consuelo González with 34.71.
In the male's category, Joaquín Tapia recorded a time of 7.60, followed by Salvador Flores with 10.81; Ángel Garrido with 13.29; Vicente Ramírez with 13.88; Fabián Forsterra with 13.93; Cristóbal Andrade with 14.37; Jesús Morales with 14.68; and Klaus Muller with 18.05.
The eight athletes advanced to the quarterfinals.
The final rounds will be held later this afternoon, followed by the awards ceremony.
