This is what you have to know if you come to Chile for the Games

Chile will be the great host of this version of the Pan American and Parapan American Games.


It’s one of the highest in Latin America. Eating at a restaurant costs approximately 16,000 pesos per person (20 USD). Daily food in a supermarket costs 18,000 pesos (22 USD). Renting a small apartment for a month can reach 350,000 pesos (400 USD). Public transportation, daily round trip for a month, is 50,000 pesos (60 USD).

2.- Transportation and traffic

Public transportation has good frequency and several routes that connect different areas of Santiago. Here you can read more about the options. It’s important to know that there are hours where there is more traffic, between 7.30 - 8.30 a.m. / 6.00 - 7.00 p.m.

4.- Tourism and change 

Museums are closed on Mondays. Banks are open until 2:00 p.m.

It’s recommended to exchange money at the exchange offices. These are located in different parts of the cities and their hours of operation are between 09.00 a.m. and 06.00 p.m. hours; inside shopping malls, they’re open until 08:00 p.m.

5.- Gastronomy

Chile is known for its gastronomy. Here are some dishes that you must try:

Humitas, pastel de choclo, choripán, completo italiano, sandwich barros luco, and barros jarpa, cazuela, porotos granados, sopaipillas, empanadas de pino, ensalada a la chilena, mote con huesillo, and on the coast, the variety of fish and seafood.
