Sunday, November 26th, 2023.- Jorge Carinao not only made headlines during the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games for his two gold medals in Para powerlifting but also took the opportunity to propose to his girlfriend at the continental event. 

After winning the -65-kilogram category with a new continental record (190 kg) and standing on the podium, he approached his girlfriend, Camila Shneider, to ask her to marry him. 

And, much like his performance with the weights, the response was positive. 

"I am very happy, really, I couldn't be happier. Everything came together—victory, a record, and I'm getting married (...) The decision was discussed, and I thought about doing it here, even though it was a very personal thing, and I knew it would be super exposed to do it publicly. But I am an athlete, and I decided it was symbolic to do it at the Parapan American Games," said Carinao. 

His future wife also has experience in sports, as she was dedicated to rhythmic gymnastics. 

It wouldn't be the last satisfaction he would have in these days because later, in the team final, he once again stood on the highest step of the podium alongside Camila Campos, Jorge Carinao, and Juan Carlos Garrido. 

"Everything has turned out better than I thought; these are unforgettable days," commented Carinao after his second gold medal. 

Santiago 2023 will always be in his memories.
