Sunday, November 26th, 2023.- Peruvian player Pedro Pablo de Vinatea emerged as the best in the SL3 category (players with severe lower limb disabilities who compete standing) by defeating Canadian William Roussy in the final in three sets.
De Vinatea had lost the first set 11-21 but managed to recover from that setback, triumphing in the following sets against Roussy with scores of 21-18 and 21-15 in his favor, after more than an hour of play at the Centro de Entrenamiento Olímpico.
De Vinatea's achievement adds to the gold medal won by Pilar Jáuregui in the female's singles WH2 Class and in the female's doubles achieved by Jáuregui herself alongside Jaquelin Burgos in the WH1-WH2 Class.
In other results for the Peruvian team on this day, Gerson Vargas secured the bronze by defeating Brazil's Jonathan Cardoso 2-0 in the SL3 category; also for the bronze, Jenny Ventocilla and Renzo Bances won 2-0 against the Mexican pair formed by María Guadalupe Rojas and Maximiliano Ávila in the mixed doubles SL3-SU5 category; Silvia Silva won 2-0 against Argentina's Elizabeth Vicente in the WH2 category, claiming third place.
