Brazil Dominates in Para Taekwondo Semifinals

The advancement of South American players in this sport seems unstoppable. They are already set in two out of the three finals scheduled for this Saturday.

Saturday, November 25th, 2023.- The Brazilian Para Taekwondo team managed to reach the gold medal final in the +65kg female and +80kg male categories, after their representatives from that country convincingly defeated their opponents in the semifinals.

Debora Bezerra secured a commanding 26-6 victory against Cuban athlete Lidia Montes de Oca in the +65kg category, while her teammate Lucas Morales did the same by overcoming his compatriot Pedro Paulo with a score of 17-13.

Bezerra will compete for the gold medal against Mexican athlete Fernanda Vargas, who reached the final after defeating another Brazilian, Camila Macedo, with a score of 5-3.

Meanwhile, Lucas Morales will vie for the gold against the American athlete Evan Medell, who won 10-7 in the semis against the Dominican Julio Figuereo. The other final in the afternoon, in the -80kg male category, will be contested between Luis Nájera from Mexico and the Costa Rican Andrés Molina.

The Para Taekwondo finals, organized by the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, are scheduled for this Saturday starting at 6:15 p.m. Prior to that, matches for the bronze medal will take place. All events will be held at the Centro de Deportes de Contacto in the S Parque de Deportes of the Estadio Nacional.
