Santiago 2023’s Para Swimming Event Comes to an End with Brazil Dominating

The South American giant was the best delegation in aquatic sports, with a total of 120 medals.

Friday, November 24th, 2023.- The sport that brought Brazil the most joy at the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games was Para swimming, where they simply dominated in the pool at the Centro de Deportes Acuáticos of the Estadio Nacional.

The powerful South American team showcased its strength by winning a total of 120 medals, distributed as 67 gold, 30 silver, and 23 bronze.

In the female's 100m butterfly S14 (for swimmers with intellectual disabilities), the champion was Brazilian Ana Soares, with a time of 1:10.73. Second place went to Mexican Citli Salinas (1:13.10), and third to Canadian Justine Morrier (1:13.44).

Next was the final of the male's 100m butterfly S14 (intellectual disabilities), with a victory for Gabriel Bandeira in a record-breaking time of 54.63. The silver went to Argentinian Lautaro Maidana (58.91), and the bronze to American Trevor Lukacsko (1:00.76).

The last Para swimming competition was the 4x100m freestyle mixed relay 34 points, with Brazil taking the top spot (4:09.00), the United States in second (4:18.44), and Colombia in third (4:23.03).
