Para Badminton: Chilean Jaime Aránguiz is Figthing For a Medal

The local athlete defeated Brazilian Edmar Francisco Barbosa at the CEO to advance as the first in his group to the semifinals.

Friday, November 24th, 2023.- In the context of Para Badminton in Santiago 2023, this Friday morning, Chilean Jaime Aránguiz defeated Brazilian Edmar Francisco Barbosa in two sets to zero in the Individual Male WH2 series, for Group A. 

This way, the representative of the host country of the Parapan American Games secured a place in the semifinals, giving him the chance to aim for a medal. 

"I felt very comfortable in closing the group. I executed the strategy we designed with my team very well, it worked great, which allowed us to achieve the goal of advancing in first place to the semifinals," said Jaime Aránguiz, who triumphed at the Centro de Entrenamiento Olímpico (CEO) over Edmar Francisco Barbosa in 17 minutes with scores of 21-2 and 21-3. 

"I'm going to stay to watch other matches to study possible opponents. I hope there's a lot of support in the semifinals this weekend and that they cheer me on a lot," added the Chilean athlete.
