Thursday, November 23rd, 2023.- Team ParaChile continues to shine at the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games, where they have been surpassing all the goals they set before the start of the multisport event.
The local team now has a total of 40 medals overall, surpassing by seven the ones won four years ago at Lima 2019 when they totaled 33.
The Chileans aimed to win 10 gold medals, and they already have 13, as this Thursday swimmer Vicente Almonacid secured the first place in the 200-meter individual medley SM8 category.
"Singing the anthem here at home was really something very special, and when the part of the anthem where the music stops, and Chileans start singing a capella comes, that's the most beautiful part," Almonacid commented on his victory.
On the same day, Alberto Abarza won his third silver medal in swimming, and Nicolás Castro finished second in F63 shot put.
The medal tally indicates that, with three days remaining until the conclusion of the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games, they have achieved 13 gold medals, 17 silver, and 40 bronze.
