Goalball: Two Finals with the North American Touch

In both, female’s and male's categories, the United States triumphed in the semi-finals and, in the process, secured qualification for Paris 2024. They already announced their intention to go for the gold in both categories.

Thursday, November 23rd, 2023.- Demonstrating their dominance in goalball on both fronts, the United States secured spots in the male's and female's finals of the discipline at the end of the day at the Centro de Deportes Paralímpicos, Estadio Nacional.

The male category was the first to take action, facing off against Canada, their classic rival, for a place in the decisive match. On paper, it had all the makings of a close game; however, the United States dispelled any doubts anyone might have had. With a comfortable 11-4 victory, Team USA left their neighbors behind and dreams of gold.

Next, in the female category, the Americans took on Argentina (who had eliminated Chile yesterday) and showed no mercy. The final score was 8-1, putting the United States within reach of two more gold medals in this highly successful run at Santiago 2023.

In the male's final, it will be Brazil against the United States, while in the female's final, the United States will face Canada, providing a potential opportunity for Canadian redemption, at 5:30 p.m.

With this performance, the United States, along with Brazil and Canada, has already secured spots for Paris 2024.
