Para Taekwondo: Three Bronzes for Brazil that Dominated in Decisive Matches

The afternoon was marked by the third-place determinations, where the Brazilian participants secured victory in all three of their matches. The day continues with the finals in three categories.

Thursday, November 23rd, 2023.- Two medals in female's and one in male's categories was the result for Brazil, concluding three of the four competitions for the third position at the Centro de deportes de Contacto of Estadio Nacional. This way, Team Brazil solidifies its position at the top of the medal table, adding three new bronze medals. 

In the males -58 kilograms category, Cicero Do Nascimento secured the third position. The para taekwondo athlete defeated Argentine Leandro Fernández with a score of 30-25 in the most contested match of the three on the hot Santiago afternoon. 

Following that, two bronze medals in female's categories were earned by Christianne Neves and Teresinha Correia in -52kg and -47kg, respectively. 

Neves defeated Elizabeth Geraldo from the Dominican Republic, while Correia dominated with a 25-1 victory over her compatriot Miriam Pio. "For me, this bronze is like a gold," said Correia after her excellent match for the medal. 

Additionally, the clash between Peruvian William Fernández and Guatemalan Gersson Mejía took place in the male's -58kg category, with the latter emerging as the winner by a narrow margin of 14-12.
