CP Football: United States Secures Spot in Medal Contention

The North American team easily defeated their neighbors from Canada at the Estadio Bicentenario in La Florida.

Thursday, November 23rd, 2023.- The United States will be in the match to compete for the bronze medal in CP Football at the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games after a 6-0 victory over Canada.

Josh Brunai clarified the situation in the first minute for the fourth-ranked team, and Cameron Delillo extended the lead with two goals in the 6th and 14th minutes. Brunai himself closed the first-half scoreline of 4-0 with a great finish in the box.

In the second half, with several changes in both teams, Lowery scored the fifth goal. In the 41st minute, Canadian goalkeeper Ryan Watson made a remarkable save on a penalty kick taken by Delillo, which would have meant the sixth goal. However, the actual sixth goal came almost at the end of the match, scored by Mccandlish.

The United States collected 9 points, securing at least the chance to compete for the bronze on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. Meanwhile, the Canadians lost all the matches in the group stage.
