Thursday, November 23rd, 2023.- At the Centro Comunitario Lo Espejo, new stages of boccia began during Thursday afternoon, specifically featuring matches between teams and pairs in various categories such as BC1/BC2 and BC4.
Brazil, which dominated the medal standings yesterday, had no trouble defeating Ecuador 17-4 in BC1-BC2, categories that involve severe limitations in leg, arm, and trunk movement and commonly rely on electric wheelchairs.
In this regard, the team composed of Andreza de Oliveira, Iuri Saraiva da Silva, and Maciel de Sousa Santos is already thinking about their next match against Canada, whose representatives are Danik Allard, Kristyn Collins, and Lance Cryderman.
Chile, on the other hand, did not have a good start and lost both of its matches. First, in the BC1/BC2 teams (Javier Bastías, Germán Calderón, and Andrea Guzmán), they succumbed to Argentina (Ailen Flores, Luis Cristaldo, and Jonathan Aquino) in a tight match, 8-6.
Later, in BC4 pairs, the host pair of Leonel Arellano and Alfonsina Urrejola fell to the Colombian pair composed of Edilson and Leidy Chica Chica by 9-1. Tomorrow, the Chileans will have their rematch in both categories against Mexico.
Finally, Canada (Alison Levine and Iulian Ciobanu) triumphed 9-0 over Argentina (Facundo Bulacio and Isisi Calderón) in doubles and, like Brazil, emerged as the top contenders for the gold.
