Dana Mathewson and Maylee Phelps Go for Gold in Wheelchair Tennis

The Americans defeated the Chileans Macarena Cabrillana and Sofía Fuentes in the doubles bracket.

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2023.- The Court Central of the Estadio Nacional witnessed a decisive victory for the Americans Dana Mathewson and Maylee Phelps, who are aiming for the gold medal in female's doubles. 

The North Americans played an almost perfect match, overcoming the Chileans Macarena Cabrillana and Sofía Fuentes. Mathewson and Phelps took advantage of every opportunity presented by the local players on the clay of Ñuñoa, securing a commanding 6-1, 6-0 victory in just 28 minutes of play. 

The opponents for the North Americans in the final will be determined in the match between the Colombians Ángelica Bernal and Johana Martínez and the Brazilians María Fernanda Alves and Meirycoll Duval, which is scheduled for the same day. 

The final is set to take place this Thursday, not before 5:00 p.m. local time, at the Court Central of the Estadio Nacional.
