Wednesday, November 22nd, 2023.- The 400 meters event crowned its winners in the T36 and T37 classes (cerebral palsy) at the beginning of the second day of Para Athletics in Santiago 2023, held at the Centro atlético Mario Recordón of the Estadio Nacional.
In the T36 category, Argentine athlete Alexis Sebastián Chávez secured the gold with a time of 54.63 seconds. The podium was completed by Mexican athlete Alan Zavala (57.04) and fellow Argentine Fabricio López (58.05).
The 21-year-old winner adds this success to the bronze he achieved in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, though in that instance, he competed in the 100 meters T36 class.
In the T37 category, Colombian athlete Jeferson Suárez emerged victorious with a time of 52.82 seconds, just four hundredths away from the Pan American record. Second place went to Colombian athlete Giovanny Malambo (53.25), and third place was claimed by Mexican athlete Carlos Rodríguez (56.23).
