Wheelchair Tennis: Chileans Cayulef and Pérez reach the Quad Doubles Mix final

Chilean pair defeated the American duo, 6-4 and 6-0.

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2023.- The journey to the final of the Quad Doubles Mix was decisive this Wednesday for Chileans Francisco Cayulef and Diego Pérez. In the second match on the Grandstand court at the Centro Deportivo de Tenis at the Estadio Nacional, they defeated Americans Andrew Bogdanov and David Wagner, 6-4 and 6-0, in an hour and 20 minutes of play.

The opponents of the local para-athletes will emerge from the match between Brazilians Leandro Pena and Ymanitú Silva against Colombians Daniel Campaz and Albeiro Moreno.

"I was coming off a defeat, and that made it a tough day emotionally. But I couldn't dwell on it because there was another instance ahead. It was a chance for redemption in the doubles the next day, and some people wait years for that. So, I turned the page to focus on my dream... Francisco was crucial in support against the Americans, especially in the first set to shake off the nerves," said Diego Pérez.

Francisco Cayulef highlighted the fact that "we've already secured a medal, which makes me happy and excited... We dreamt of achieving this in a new category, and the positive thing is that it's going better than expected... Diego and I have been playing together for years, we know each other very well, and the result now reflects that."
