Para Archery: United States Earns Second Gold Medal

Kevin Polish claimed the top spot in the Men's Compound Open and joined his compatriot Tracy Otto in the first place for female's W1.

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2023.- This Wednesday has been positive for the United States in Para archery at Santiago 2023. First, American Tracy Otto excelled in the female's W1 category, defeating Chile's Mariela López in the final. 

Later on, another American, Kevin Polish, secured the gold medal in the male's Compound Open competition. Polish triumphed at the Centro de Tiro con Arco, located in Peñalolén commune, defeating Costa Rican Diego Quesada by 145 to 142. 

The bronze medal in the male's Compound Open went to Canadian Kyle Tremblay, who tied at 142 with Mexican Víctor Sardina and won in the tiebreaker. 

Earlier, Costa Rican Pilar Riveros clinched gold in the female's Compound Open by defeating Chile's Mariana Zúñiga in the final. Additionally, Brazilian Eugenio Franco claimed gold in the male's W1 category. 

On this Wednesday, the seventh day of competition at the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games, Para archery still has events to determine winners in the female's Open Recurve and male's Open Recurve categories.
