Wednesday, November 22nd, 2023.- The battle for the top spot in the Compound Open Female's event in Para archery at the Centro de Tiro con Arco in Peñalolén was fiercely contested until the end. 

The fight for the gold medal remained uncertain until the last round, ultimately favoring Costa Rican Pilar Riveros, who secured the gold with a score of 139 points. 

The Central American's performance had just a one-point difference from Chilean Mariana Zúñiga's score, as Zúñiga began closing the gap towards the end of the competition. 

The bronze medal went to American Wendy Gardner, who won in an arrow-for-arrow tiebreaker against Colombian Yasneide Peñaranda after both scored 131 points. 

Earlier, Brazilian Eugenio Franco secured gold in the male's category, and American Tracy Otto claimed victory in the female's event. 

On this Wednesday, the seventh day of competitions at the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games, Para archery still has events to determine in the compound open male, recurve open female, and recurve open male categories.
