Wheelchair Basketball: U.S. Beats Colombia in Duel of Unbeatens

At the end of the group phase of the male's competition, the North Americans won 66-51. In the quarterfinals they will face Chile, while the Colombians will face Venezuela.

Tuesday, November 21st, 2023.- In a duel between the two best teams in Group B of male's wheelchair basketball, the United States defeated Colombia 66-51 to finish in first place with a perfect season. The South Americans, on the other hand, suffered their first defeat in the tournament.

With this match, the group phase was closed and the quarterfinals were formed: United States with Chile, Canada with Puerto Rico, Colombia with Venezuela and Argentina with Brazil.

In today's match at the Polideportivo 1 of the Estadio Nacional, the United States was always superior and won all the quarters, but none of them by much advantage: 17-12 in the first, 15-13 in the second, 16-14 in the third and 18-12 in the last.

Colombia was a more than worthy opponent and showed why they came to this match undefeated after beating Brazil and Puerto Rico.

About the match against Chile, the American Jorge Sanchez said: "It will be very exciting to face the local team, in front of a huge crowd. The match against Colombia was very tough, so let's rest and think about our next match".

It is important to remember that the discipline in Santiago 2023 gives quotas for Paris 2024.
